Key4life rehabilitation programs helps young men build resilience and release negative behaviours through a powerful blend of different programmes. Lancer Scott believes in working together, and we believe that community matters.

Recently, our team had the privilege of attending some Key4Life events to see their incredible work in action and to offer our support. We were eager to get involved and help these young men on their journey towards personal and professional growth.

Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs: Dragons’ Den Program

Our first visit included participating in the fantastic Dragons’ Den program. This initiative brought together a group of ambitious young men, challenging them to brainstorm and present innovative business ideas. By stepping into the roles of entrepreneurs, they gained valuable insights into business planning, financing, and management. It was inspiring to see their creativity and determination shine through as they developed their plans. They were given a support and advice from individuals with real life business experience to really get the best out of their business ideas, they even got the chance to become one of the dragons!

Real-World Experience: Meet the Companies

The next impactful activity was a “Meet the Companies” session, where we conducted mock interviews with several young men eager to enter the professional world. These 15-minute interviews provided them with a platform to practice their skills, gain confidence, and engage in meaningful discussions about their future careers. It was rewarding to witness their growth and enthusiasm as they prepared for the challenges ahead.

Further Opportunities

During these programmes, we met one of the talented young men Tyrese who impressed us with his culinary skills, we gave him the chance to show off the “finest Jerk chicken” at our summer games, his dedication and creativity in the kitchen were truly remarkable, and it was clear that he has a bright future ahead! It’s fair to say he lived up to the standard and every single bit of food was gone in a flash!

Work Experience

Following our visit, we were excited to offer a three-day work experience programme for the young men from Key4Life, providing them with a glimpse into the construction industry and the diverse opportunities it offers.

Day one:  Key4Life joined us at our office where we provided a tour as well as IHASCO training courses, providing them with essential health and safety knowledge that will be crucial for their practical visits. This made sure they were prepared to go onto the site.

Day Two:  The candidates visited The Millner’s Bristol where they explored a £10m cladding remediation project, where they gained first-hand experience of a construction site, exploring the various roles within construction, and were given an in-depth tour and knowledge on site.

Day Three: The final day saw the young men shadowing one of our team leaders, James, from the FM team which included site visits and further talks with Bristol City Council regarding upcoming projects. We also gave them a chance to monitor the site and identify and address any issues.
