Meet our Designer: Georgia Davies
Meet our Designer: Georgia Davies
We’re delighted to welcome our latest recruit, Georgia Davies, who joins our Cardiff office. Georgia will be working closely with our growing fit out team, bolstering our in-house expertise and creativity to produce inspiring designs across a wide range of schemes.
Let’s meet Georgia, in a quick-fire Q&A.
- Hello Georgia. What’s your role at Lancer Scott?
Hello, I am a Designer for Lancer Scott, which largely consists of attending site surveys, communicating with suppliers and contractors, and taking client briefs that enables me to produce 3D concept design proposals that addresses the client’s aspirations for their workspace. My day-to-day role spans from selecting furniture and finishes for fit out projects, to generating construction drawings for complex refurbishment schemes.
- What did you do before you joined Lancer Scott?
Before I joined Lancer Scott, I worked as an Interior Designer within both commercial and residential design, which has broadened my knowledge and understanding of the many layers to design.
- What’s been the highlight of your career to date?
A highlight for me would have to be my first solo project as Lead Designer – it was a truly collaborative working relationship with the client, who was clear on the vision they wanted to bring to life. Once the design was executed, it was wonderful to see how blown away they were with the results – it was a real confidence boost that I will never forget.
- What commercial design trends are you loving at the moment?
The trend for multi-functionality is growing within commercial design, and it allows a workspace to be significantly more versatile! I think a real shift has come about since the COVID-19 pandemic, where we all now understand the importance of a healthy work-life balance, and what we want out of an office environment.
People also have a newfound appreciation for the more social, in-person collaboration side to being in the office, and this has been great for commercial design as it means an office can be more than just a place where we work – it can be an all-inclusive space featuring multi-functional zones for team get togethers, hosting events, training, focus and wellbeing, and lots more.
- What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
My dog Kobi takes up most of my time when I am not at work. Apart from trying to wear him out, I love to socialise, and you’ll find me catching up with friends over a glass of wine.
- Where’s your favourite place in the world?
I love to travel, and this changes all the time for me so I could never pin it down to just one place. I love the tranquillity and natural beauty of Loch Lomond in Scotland, the varied culture and stunning beaches of Koh Tao and Koh Samui in Thailand, but come the winter, it has to be Lucerne in Switzerland. My constant is Laugharne in West Wales, it’s my home with my family.
