Protected: Old Filton House

Brief

Old Filton House dates back to the 18th century and is one of the few surviving buildings from the time before aerospace came to Filton. Once the main house of a busy working farm, today the historic building is home to team operations at Airbus.

Lancer Scott was appointed by Airbus to deliver a comprehensive refurbishment of the 2,500 sq. ft, three storey property. With a project value of circa £860,000, the refurbishment transformed the building into a CAT A ready workspace.

Solution

Our team began with an extensive strip out and demolition before undertaking a comprehensive programme of refurbishment works. Internally, Lancer Scott upgraded the mechanical and electrical systems, installed a new raised access floor, and created a modern kitchen, breakout area and accessible staff amenities.

The reception area was transformed with the installation of a new revolving door. Bespoke joinery was fitted throughout, including a meet and greet reception desk.

Externally, the project team completed careful masonry repairs to the lime based stonework and restored the building’s windows, including repairs to the historic façade and the installation of bespoke double glazed timber sash windows to improve the building’s performance and appearance. The floor to ceiling windows introduce an abundance of natural light into the main entrance area while providing views of the surrounding trees.

A full internal and external decoration package completed the refurbishment, enhancing the building’s overall appearance and creating a high quality working environment.

This project is a great example of transforming office facilities within a historic building while respecting its heritage. The revitalised workspace provides a dynamic foundation for Airbus’ continued growth and ambitions.
