Compare my Move

The Brief: 

We were appointed to carry out the workplace design, CAT B fit out and furniture for Cardiff-based comparison website Compare My Move. 

For our client, their mission is simple: to help UK home movers at every step of their journey, connecting them with an extensive network of handpicked moving specialists.   

They have experienced fast growth, and having previously worked from serviced offices, the company decided to relocate its teams to the iconic 110,000 sq. ft Hodge House – a dynamic workspace covering eight floors in the heart of the city.  

The objective? A functional space that encapsulates the company’s ethos and vibrant culture, and will assist in future growth aspirations.  

The Solution: 

With its grand stature, our design needed to cater to the architectural identity of the Grade II listed office building, and create a sense of intimacy and privacy throughout the open floorplate.  

Across 8,700 sq. ft of space, agile areas have been formed to encourage collaborative work, informal meetings and social get togethers. With very high ceilings, the addition of acoustic ceiling rafts help in absorbing sound, and the rich, bold colour palette cleverly form allocated zones within the wider space. 

Surrounding the central meeting core are a variety of informal furniture pieces and seating areas for effective teamwork. Creating a harmonious feel, a welcoming neutral base palette with key accent colours of muted stone, blues and green applied throughout create a fresh, contemporary look where teams can focus and enjoy working together.  

Paying homage to the history of the building, feature wall mouldings as well as timber panels were included into the design to provide texture and interest within the boardroom. Whilst playful accent wall art and accessories were considered to bring personality on entry into the space, and to reflect the client’s brand character.  

Furniture pieces have been selected for the addition of planting and fresh greenery by the client, which provides a natural aesthetic against the existing industrial elements.  

Towards the back of the office environment, we built and fitted out a large break out area to welcome teams for social meet ups, a bite to eat and some space away from the office to relax and recharge. 

Through thoughtful design and considered use of architectural elements in the fit out, Compare My Move now have a brand new workspace that’s full of charm, opportunity and modern functionality.
