The Brief:

CBRE’s West of England and Wales team recently made the move to the award winning, state-of-the-art EQ office building in Bristol, where Lancer Scott was commissioned for the design and build of the global real estate firm’s new workspace.

With emphasis placed on workplace experience, CBRE wanted to improve collaboration across a dynamic environment for its 100 strong staff.

Securing 7,500 sq ft of space, the vision for our client was to provide an intentional workplace – one that enables employees to work effectively, promotes social connections and wellness. The environment would showcase the company’s values, whilst aligning the brand with other offices around the world.

The Solution:

Together with the client’s own project management team, interior designers Fable and Form and MEP engineers Vida, we worked through the client’s workplace analysis to understand the different needs of users at the South West base – the resident employee, the visiting employee and the external visitor.

With each user in mind, a multi-functional space was the objective. The environment needed to inspire the resident employee, whilst allowing seamless connectivity and accessibility for the visiting employee, alongside a cohesive, brand experience for all guests.

At the heart of the workplace is the visually striking, cafe-style breakout area and client-focused meet and greet lounge. The muted colour palette and bold feature lighting creates a calming experience and memorable first and last impression.

To support a wide range of individual and diverse working styles and sensitivities, the open plan includes areas for collaborative working as well as space for more private, focused work. It was important to the client that each area enabled people to do their best work comfortably.

Prioritising flexibility, another key aspect to the design was the need for hybrid-style working and opportunities for people to move away from desks and work anywhere, with effective tools, desk set up and technology delivered across the open plan.

Thoughtful design choices promote the integration of well-being elements as core parts of the workday experience, with a calming wellness zone for moments of rest and balance. The use of soft textures, including curtains, helps to break up the open plan layout and create an adaptable working environment.

Delivered in just over three months, we’ve successfully built an exquisite workplace with best-in-class amenities that strengthens culture and actively supports well-being and collaboration.

Kind Words

“The combination of Lancer Scott, Fable and Form and Vida worked so well – we have an absolutely fantastic space which the whole team are so happy with! A huge thank you to the delivery team from Lancer Scott for their hard work and attention to detail on finishes.”
